I’m proud to be a Fremantle boy, I’ve lived and worked here all my life and this by-election is a choice about the Fremantle we want in the future.
For more than 20 years I have put the community of Fremantle first. Fremantle is my home and every day I face the same challenges that you do and I understand the issues confronting our port city.
For the past two years I have opposed the transport of lead carbonate through the port of Fremantle. More recently I spearheaded the campaign against the Barnett Government on behalf of the people living in the 22 suburbs near the proposed transport route. I will continue this fight if elected.
As a father and family man, I understand that strong communities are safe communities.
During the past decade I have worked closely with WA Police and local businesses to develop a smarter, safer security network. Together we overhauled security patrols on the nightclub strip, installed monitored CCTV cameras and increased the police presence.
But the job is not finished. We still need a major regional police station to service the needs of the broader community in and around Fremantle. I will work to ensure our police are better resourced to keep our streets safe day and night.
Supporting new businesses as well as our traditional port industries is important for our local economy to survive and grow. I am determined to ensure that our local community continues to have access to employment and training opportunities.
Fremantle is a great place to raise children. Every family deserves access to good local schools and our children deserve a quality education. I want to ensure that schools in and around Fremantle continue to thrive and I will advocate for better funding for school maintenance and upgrades.
